Adoption of Tree Preservation Order
At its meeting on 27 September 2005, Council resolved to impose an interim Tree Preservation Order in
respect of certain environmentally sensitive land within the Council area. This Order has effect from the
date of the Council meeting and will apply until Council considers a further report on the matter in the future.
The effect of this Order is that no one may remove any trees from land affected by the Order without first
obtaining the approval of Council to the removal. The Order prevents the ring-barking, cutting down, topping,
lopping, removing, injuring or wilful destruction of any tree or trees except with the consent of Council.
Consents may be given subject to any conditions, which Council sees fit.
If you wish to remove any trees from the land affected by this Order you should request approval to do so in
writing. Your request should be accompanied by a plan showing the location of trees on the land and the
specific trees to be removed and the justification for their removal.
