What is a Direct Debit System?
This system enables your money to be electronically transferred from your nominated bank, building society or credit union account to the Inverell Shire Council's account on the day the bill falls due, for either quarterly or annually payments.
You may also nominate for regular payments to be deducted on a fortnightly or monthly basis. It is a cheap and easy method of ensuring your account is paid on time with no standing in queues or having to remember to post cheques on time and there is no transaction cost to you.
What Do You Have To Do?
Simply complete and return the Request form to Inverell Shire Council and we will notify you on the date on which the direct debit will start.
If you wish to pay your rates in full, the one payment will be deducted on the last working day in August.
If you wish to pay by instalments, the payments will be deducted on the last working day of each quarter ie. August, November, February and May.
If you wish to make regular payments on a fortnightly or monthly basis, this may be arranged by providing the relevant information.
Please remember
- The form must be completed and returned to Council not less than fourteen (14) days before your next payment.
- If you wish to stop payments, or your bank details change, or you sell your property, you will need to advise Council within fourteen (14) days of receiving your rate notice.
- If your account has insufficient funds available, you will be liable for a bank dishonour fee. For details please see your bank, building society or credit union.
If you require any further information or assistance, please phone Council's Rates section on 02 6728 8201.
